Jessica P. Abbott was born to two Air Force veterans in Colorado Springs, CO. and has been living and working in the heart of Kempsville for the better part of a decade. She graduated from Floyd E. Kellam High School and in 2008 began working and managing her family’s local business (Matt Abbott State Farm). In 2015 Jessica completed her education at American College gaining her LUTCF (Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow) designation and in 2016 her FSCP (Financial Service Certified Professional). Jessica is also a FEMA/NFIP certified flood insurance agent and understands the unique coastal flooding situation facing Virginia Beach. In 2011 Jessica attended the renowned Jennifer Byler Institute – a candidate school for women in Richmond.
In 2013 after nearly being assaulted in a parking lot, Jessica founded Bad Brass Women, an outreach organization specializing in empowering women to defend themselves. For the last three years Bad Brass has helped many local women learn defensive techniques in both hand-to-hand defense and safe firearm use. Jessica also co-founded an organization for female entrepreneurs that helped women to start and grow their own local small businesses.
Jessica is also a mother of a beautiful baby boy, a wife, a caretaker of two special needs rescue dogs, an entrepreneur, an avid outdoorswomen, and a musician.
